This large square, which was first built in 1845, is named after the 1805 Battle of Trafalgar. The square is surrounded on three sides by roadways with the entrance to the National Gallery closing in the fourth side. Located in the center, is a commemorative column topped by a statue of Admiral Nelson who died in the Battle of Trafalgar.
